ADVERTISEMENTS

stop-restrictGot an email from Robert Popper asking me “how to restrict control panel access in Windows”, I thought to share this tutorial with you all as many of you might not be knowing it.

There are 2 methods to perform this task :

Restrict Control Panel Access Manually

Go to run and type gpedit.msc and hit Enter. This will open Group Policy, and we have to make some changes in it.

In the left hand side, click on Administrative Templates and then click on Control Panel

Now, in the right hand side panel, right click on Prohibit access to the Control Panel and select Properties.

In the Properties window, select Enabled and click on Apply and then OK.

enable

And you’re done !

Restrict Control Panel Access Using TweakNow Power Pack

Now, you will say that if there is a simple way to do this job then why I told you about the manual way. Well, we should know, how things works, and we should not depend on software for these kind of easy jobs. Lets come to the topic, download TweakNow Power Pack from here and install it.

At the top click on Control Panel and put a tick on Disable Access To Control Panel and click on Save at the top and you’re done !

I should have known intuitively, but of course I didn’t, but the initial click on Administrative Rights must be on the “User Configuration”, not the “Computer Configuration”. Took a while to find it around midnight. Thanks for the heads up.
