How To Run Different Operating Systems Simultaneously [TRP]

windows-mac-logo-parallel-smallYesterday I got an email from one of our readers Allan Gumikiriza asking if its is possible to run multiple operating systems at a same time on a single machine ? You might have heard about dual boot with which we can install 2 operating systems on a single machine, but the problem with dual boot is that we have to reboot the system to switch to another operating system, this is a big drawback of dual boot. So, here are few software with which you can run different operating system at the same time.

1. Run Linux on Windows : andLinux is a free utility to run Linux natively inside Windows. It is a complete Ubuntu Linux system running seamlessly in Windows 2000 based systems (2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7; 32-bit versions only). Click here for the download link and to know the detail tutorial on how to use this software.

2. Run Windows on Mac : Here is a parallel desktop for Mac called Parallels that allows you to run Windows on your Mac without rebooting. You can easily switch to one operating system to other in a single click and can perform various functions simultaneously. It is a paid software and you can download the trial version here.

3. Run Windows on Windows : To run different versions of Windows on Windows, you can use Virtual Machines. One of the simplest and easiest one is the Microsoft Virtual PC. Click here to visit the download link.

ummmm, this is NOT running multiple operating systems simultaneously. In each example, one OS is running as a host and one is running as a guest. Does anyone know if there is a boot loader of sorts that will allow me to truly run multiple operating systems in parallel? (i.e. where one OS is not dependent upon another to run–each OS can run in its own space on the same machine) Thanx!!

like like if you had a quad-core processor and you could run linux on two of these and windows on the 2 others and just switch between them as easy multiple desktops
