Though the device has a metallic chassis, yet the bottom made of plastic. The outer surface is plain, simple and glossy that give it a regular but elegant look. The corners edges are sharp. It seems that Acer has tried their best to make it a hard and long lasting device yet costing them less.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The chiclet keyboard is quite responsive and spacious.  It will be handy for those who type a lot. There is hardly any chance of pressing the wrong key, while typing.

Generally notebooks with 15 inch screen size do not offer a full number keypad, but this device includes one.

The size of the touchpad is 3.4x 1.25 inches. It recognizes multi-touch gestures. Two fingers scrolling works perfectly.  Multi touch gesture facility such as pinch to zoom may be a bit of a problem for new users. There is also a scroll bar at the right side that you may find very useful.

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS5830TG-6402 runs on Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit). It also includes MS Office Starter, but with no PowerPoint or Outlook. This note book comes with many third party applications like Bing search bar, Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1 and Reader 9.1, Windows Live Essentials 2011, Microsoft Silverlight, NY Times reader,  AUPEO, a trial version of McFree’s Internet Security Suit, eSobi etc.
