The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation

If you are here, this means that you have been a victim to this problem. In this article, I will guide you through the proper steps, by which you can overcome this issue. First of all, you should understand what this error is and then choose the possible measures.

The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation error message

The basic root cause for this error message is due to insufficient administrator privileges associated with the working account. There are some restrictions provided to non-admin users and this can usually be seen when you are trying to access or carry out tasks which has been unapproved in the group policy of the Operating System. If this is the default case, one can overcome this error by simply logging into the machine with the administrator account and carry out the task again which is causing this error. One can also upgrade the current user account to the administrator privileges.

If the above method fails, follow the  Operating System specific troubleshooting steps defined below:

the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation in windows 2003

This irritating problem arises when there is no specific action defined to handle such installations. This problem can be more or less solved with the same trick of group policies. Follow the instructions’ provide in the Windows Vista section and then -

1. Select the program you want to install.

2. Right click it and select the “run as” option.

3. Select Admin option

VMWARE

the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation in vmware

This is the most common issue with the vmware installation. This is due to the fact that this program requires higher security clearance from the Operating system to run successfully. By default the Windows 7 and Vista users have higher chances of encountering this error while installing vmware rather than Windows Xp or Server 2003. The reason is the introduction of UAC, in vista and seven. Now here as well, the trick is to follow the procedures for the Windows 7 steps mentioned above. Then try installing the program again. If this fails again try installing the program with “right click” run as admin privileges. Still if the installation fails with this error message, try setting a password for the administrator account. And then follow the last mentioned procedure again. This will surely solve your problem.

I hope that this will solve all related issues for different version of windows. If you are still having problems, related to this error message, just post back your problem in the comment section, I will try to solve out your problems as fast as possible.
